GoXL deals with issues more fundamental than team development stages and strategies. Our focus is on the understanding of diverse team member personalities, how potential personality conflict might occur, and how to best deal with anticipated personality issues that might play positive or negative roles in team effectiveness.
Team Dynamics
When it is determined that a team is less than effective, or in direct conflict, GoXL works with individual team members to determine the basis of dysfunction that might lie deeper than mere team processes. This typically involves personality assessment and how best to understand and deal effectively with those who find themselves in conflict.
Typical team interventions focus on potential weakness in team processes. They often avoid difficult circumstances involving conflicting motivations, agendas, or other negative emotional or affective dysfunction. Unless these foundational conditions are addressed, there will be a lack of commitment or desire to adhere to healthy team processes.
GoXL Strategies
Team Development
Typical team development programs cover essential basics including shared understanding of the team's mission, commitment to the team's goals, clearly defined roles and responsibilities, agreed-upon groundrules, an established decision-making model, and an effective group process including commitment to open communication, mutual accountability and appropriate self-evaluation. Yet, all too often teams perform poorly, largely because of personality issues.
