The higher in the organizational hierarchy one goes the more uncommon and more difficult it becomes to devise and implement effective and appropriate performance reviews. Typically reviews are done by one or more individuals on the next step of the organizational hierarchy and utilize "check the box" items that usually pertain more to achievement of goals rather than leadership effectiveness

Boards, Executive Teams, and Cross Discipline Work Teams are typically evaluated on completion of pre-determined tasks, goals, or outcomes. If it is found that expectations have not been met, it becomes a significant challenge to determine whether the problem is in the expectations themselves, or whether organizational or interpersonal factors play a significant role in team function.

Our strategy of open-ended data collection, rather than standard "check the box" reviews allows individuals the opportunity to reveal what they believe the executive is doing well.. and what areas are in need of improvement. Rather than placing emphasis on individual "complaints" we look for patterns.
